Michael Jakobsen

Michael Jakobsen signed with Adelaide on a two-year deal bolstering the Reds’ defensive stocks ahead of the 2018/19 season. Capped five times for Denmark, the Dane has brought a plethora of experience and leadership to the squad. After a solid first campaign, Jakobsen was given the captaincy following the departure of Isaías and led the team to a second consecutive FFA Cup Final win in 2019. He has since amassed more than 70 games for Adelaide. The 34-year-old was previously at Melbourne City for two years and prior to that he enjoyed an extensive career, totalling 10 years in the Danish Superliga with Aalborg BK as well as Esbjerg fB, FC Copenhagen, and FC Nordsjælland. Jakobsen also plied his trade with Spanish outfit Almeria in La Liga and the Segunda División. He was also on the books of Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven at the beginning of his footballing journey, making his debut as a 17-year-old in 2003.
