Young Reds run riot against SA Panthers


Adelaide United Youth were clinical in their 3-0 win against newly promoted South Adelaide Panthers, in Round 6 of the South Australian National Premier League 2018 Season, at the Parks Football Centre.

In what was a strong showing from the Young Reds, the boys smashed South Adelaide Panthers for a much deserved three points.

After a run of tough fixtures and good performances, the United Youth Team were finally rewarded for their efforts to secure the win against the SA Panthers.

A great performance from the front three, who ran amok through the Panthers’ defence, put away three-goals.

An early first half goal from Aladin Irabona gave the Reds the lead, after a perfectly timed leap to head the ball home past the keeper.

Chances were rare for the remainder of the first half but the Young Reds continued to vie for control of the game in the midfield.

Another chance opened up for the Reds in the 55th minute, after a cross from Mark Ochieng found Irabona whose shot smashed into the top of the bar and out.

Ten minutes later the Reds increased their lead, after Apostolos Stamatelopoulos broke through the lines, beating his defender and finding Lachlan Brook unmarked at the back post for a tap in.

The final goal of the match came in the 83rd, as Pacifique Niyongabire, making his much-awaited return from injury, danced past a defender, rounded the keeper, and passed the ball into an open net.
