The Adelaide United Youth Team will play Adelaide Victory in Round 15 of the NPL State League at Rushworth Reserve on Saturday afternoon.
After a mixed couple of weeks, the Young Reds returned to winning ways defeating Gawler 7-0 last weekend.
However, The Adelaide United Youth Team will arguably face their biggest test of the year when they face top of the table side Adelaide Victory Saturday.
Coach of the Young Reds Michael Valkanis, believes the side are ready to face the Victory and knows that they will have to be at their best to defeat the best team in league.
“This week against Victory will be a very good test,” said Valkanis.
“They are obviously the best team in the competition; they’re an experienced team and have strong players everywhere on the park.
“So to beat them, we are going to have to play to the system and concentrate on holding the ball so we can dominate the game as a whole”.
The Adelaide United Youth Team, who join the top of the league with goals scored, are going to need to take their chances in front of goal if they are a chance of beating the Victory on Saturday.
“In last few away trips against Noarlunga and Salisbury we have played reasonably well but haven’t taken our chances,” said Valkanis.
“This week, hopefully we can score a few goals and if we do that and defend well we can beat the Victory.”
Although the odds will be against them, Coach Michael Valkanis believes if the Young Reds can play their game then the result will look after itself.
“Our aim is to play the style, no matter who we play,” said Valkanis.
“We are still up there in the league, so a win this week will give us a lot of confidence and overall I think we are doing really well by pushing these teams right to the end each week.”
