Young Reds ready for Victory

The Adelaide United Youth Team will host Adelaide Victory, in the final round of the NPL State League at the Elite Systems Football Centre on Saturday afternoon.

In what seems to be the biggest match of season, the Young Reds will look to end the season on a high with a possible State League title hanging in the balance. However, this will depend on the result, which features the league leaders Cumberland and the Adelaide Hills.

Coach of the Young Reds, Michael Valkanis believes that although the NPL State League title is in arms distance, the players must focus on the performance first as well as ensuring they take the game as per normal circumstances.

“Too be quite honest, every week we only focus on the way we are going to play,” said Valkanis.

“We haven’t spoken about the situation we are in at all but I think that could be a by-product of the way we play, but at the end of the day all we can focus on is our game.

“We know it’s the last game of the season and it’s a very important game for us to finish off on but just like always we will focus on our playing style and to play a good game of football.”

Playmaker of the Young Reds, Dylan Smith who just arrived back from his tour of the Northern Territory with Adelaide United, believes the preparation going into the match is as good as ever and is ready to take on the Adelaide Victory.

“It was fantastic to travel to the Northern Territory and start in the first game and score a few goals,” said Smith.

“It was also good to play alongside some of the other youth team boys, which we performed really well and played out part for the senior side.

“But now we shift our attention to the game against the Adelaide Victory, which we know we have a lot to play for and know they are going to be well structured.

“So we have to work hard to get the three points and ultimately I hope we can achieve our goal.”

To ensure the Young Reds have all the support they can, be sure to head down and cheer them on as they attempt to secure the championship in just their first season in the competition. Both current 2015/15 Adelaide United Members and those that still have their match ticket from Wednesday’s Westfield FFA Cup clash against Sydney FC, will gain FREE ENTRY into the Young Reds’ final NPL match of the season.
