The Adelaide United Youth Team will face Adelaide Olympic, in Round 23 of the NPL State League at the Elite Systems Football Centre on Saturday afternoon.

In what seems to be an eagerly anticipated match up, Adelaide United will look to keep hold of top spot on the ladder, while Adelaide Olympic aim to leap frog the Young Reds with only one point separating the teams.

Captain of the Young Reds, Adam Piscioneri stresses the importance of the match and believes both teams will be hungrier than ever to get a result.

“The match itself has a lot of importance; as they are a very good side which have multiple players which can cause us trouble,” said Piscioneri.

“As a team we need to focus on our game and the style of football we play, as in recent weeks we have been able to do that and win games quite convincingly.

“But we know how good they are and in the last game we played we were a bit unlucky but this time we need to finish our chances.

The Young Reds have been in some real from over the last month scoring 24 goals and conceding zero. However, Piscioneri puts it down to the hard work on the training track and the combinations which the team has been able to produce in recent weeks.

“We have been working on combination play a lot at training, as well our ability to link up in the front third whilst focusing on finishing,” said Piscioneri.

“Today we need to put that into play and hopefully can get a result against a very experienced side like Adelaide Olympic.

“We know the crowd will be there in numbers so we need to keep the emotion of the field and make sure that we are well structured to make it difficult for them (Adelaide Olympic) to play.

“Overall, as a team we are excited and ready to play against a side that are hungry for a result.”

The Young Reds currently sit top of the NPL State League ladder, and a win for the Young Reds could see them go three points clear.
