Young Reds ready for The Cove

The Adelaide United Youth Team will host The Cove in their first home game of the NPL 2015 State League Season at the Adelaide Shores Football Centre on Wednesday night.

Coming off a disappointing loss to Perth Glory on Sunday morning, the Young Reds will aim to emulate last week’s performance which saw them dispatch the Adelaide Hills 4-0.

Key Young Reds midfielder Thomas Love is relishing the opportunity to play. With only a short turn around between matches Love believes the squad is excited and is hoping the match will give them confidence going into Sunday’s Cross Border Rivalry with Melbourne Victory.

“Everyone’s looking forward to the match,” said Love.

“Seeing as though we haven’t had the results we’ve wanted in the past couple of weeks (in the Foxtel National Youth League), we want to prepare well so we can finish off the remainder of the season strong and by playing tonight it will hopefully give us confidence against Melbourne Victory on Sunday.”

With The Young Reds busy schedule well underway, Love concedes that no matter the opposition Adelaide United will focus on playing their own football which has proved to be a headache for oppositions within the Foxtel National Youth League this campaign.

“It’s not as if we are playing a different quality of opposition, they might a bit different in the way they play but we won’t change our game style and we will play like we do each week,” said Love.

“In terms of competing in the NPL State League we hope to play the same brand of football like we have in the Youth League. Which is play the ball around, bounce it and use that United philosophy which we have been taught from our mentors”.

As the Foxtel National Youth League comes to an end this weekend, The Young Reds will shift their attention to the NPL State League which midfielder Thomas Love believes winning the league is their main ambition whilst playing the best football they can.

“Obviously our main goal is to win the league; I think I can speak for everyone because our hunger and drive is so strong.”

“So if we can work hard and play attractive football week in week out I think we can take out the league at the end of the year.”
