Young Reds put three past Playford

The Adelaide United Youth Team has made it three wins in a row in the NPL State League, after defeating the Playford Patriots 3-0 at Ramsay Park on Saturday afternoon.

A brace from Antoni Trimboli and the other by forward Doni Pollock was enough the secure three vital points away to Playford.

The game started off brightly for the Young Reds, who controlled majority of the possession, and it took 38 minutes to break the deadlock through Trimboli.

Moments later, just before half time, ‪Pollock made it two for the Young Reds. The goal was his eight in three games, which has also put him two clear at the top of leading goal scorers.

With a 2-0 leading at the break, it was essential that the Young Reds kept up the momentum in the second half.

After the restart, the Young Reds came out firing and looked sharp especially through their wing play.

In the 79th minute, Adelaide United Youth Team recorded their third and final goal of the match, after an overlapping run from Oliver Zafridis, he sent in a high cross to find the head of Trimboli at the far post.

An overall solid team play on the day had the Young Reds secure their third win a row, which sent them top of the NPL State League.

Coach of the Young Reds Michael Valkanis was very satisfied with his side’s performance and ability to create and finish their chances.

“I am very happy with our performance today,” said Valkanis.

“We controlled and dominated the whole game while maintaining possession, which put Playford under pressure and allowed us to create many chances.

“Our mindset has been great and fully focused on the job at hand. Our style of play demands high concentration and in the last three weeks we have shown this. Through our efforts and style of play the results have come.

“We still have a long way to go, but we are right on track.

“Finally, I am very proud of our young team and liking the way they are performing. We will continue working to improve and get even better.

The attention for the Adelaide United Youth Team is now onto next week’s vital clash with Adelaide Olympic at the Elite System Football Centre on Saturday afternoon. A win for the Young Reds could see them go three points clear at the top of the ladder.
