The Adelaide United Youth Team continued its impressive start to the NPL State League, upstaging the Playford Patriots 5-0 at the Elite Systems Football Centre on Saturday afternoon.

In perfect conditions, the opening 10 minutes saw both sides share possession of the football however it was the Young Reds who had the better of the opportunities.

In the 21st minute, a shot taken by Niko Apostolopoulos was palmed away by the Playford keeper and fortunately found its way into the stride of Antoni Trimboli who calmly slotted the ball into the net.

The Adelaide United Youth grew in confidence after the goal and 6 minutes after they had their second. A lovely piece of individual play by Thomas Love allowed him to chip in a delightful cross enabling central defender Ben Warland to control the ball and hit into the net.

Adelaide became confident in possession which saw both defenders Oliver Zafridis and Mark Ochieng join in on attacks. But Adelaide weren’t able to extend their lead only going into the half time break 2 goals ahead.

The second half saw a much creative Adelaide United Youth Team, as each player looked confident and poised on the football.

Just on 60 minutes Antoni Trimboli netted his second of the match, as a flick on from a near throw in enabled Trimboli to latch onto the ball and neatly tuck it into the far corner of the net.

With Tthe Young Reds dominating in possession the squad brought upon play maker Nathan Konstandopoulos and strong defender Jordan Pudler. The two made immediate impacts of the bench linking up well with the front three and defence.

In the 81st minute Mark Ochieng made an impressive run down the right hand side and found marksman Doni Pollock who cleverly turned his defender and stroke the ball home from 6 yards out sealing the points for Adelaide United.

However, Adelaide United never stopped attacking and found a fifth goal in the 90th minute. Substitute Alec Maiolo used his quick feet to take on a defender and curl in an enticing low cross which found its way into the net via an own goal.
