The Adelaide United Youth Team have got back to winning ways, after defeating Noarlunga United 4-1 at the Elite Systems Football Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Goals courtesy of Jordan Pudler, Adam Piscioneri and a brace from Dylan Smith were enough to secure the points and re-gain second spot on the NPL State League table.

In what was almost perfection conditions for football, the Adelaide United Youth Team started the more dominant of the two sides as wingers for the Young Reds Antoni Trimboli and Samed Altunda were allowed lots of space up and down the flanks.

Noarlunga United defended with numbers inside the box, but as the pressure continued to mount, Trimboli was brought down through a desperate tackle and a penalty given. Jordan Pudler stepped up and calmly slotted in the first goal of the match.

However, the goal scorer was soon to be the one that gifted Noarlunga their equaliser after a loss of possession and turn over just outside the Young Reds’ box.

Adelaide United responded well and continued to pile on the pressure, especially through the wings, but the crosses were being dealt with.

It took Dylan Smith to re-gain the lead just before the half-hour mark. He received yet another pass into the box which he converted with ease.

Adelaide United continued to have more of the possession but couldn’t apply any more to the scoreboard, going into the break with only a 2-1 lead.

After the restart, it only took seven minutes for the lead to extend. Captain and midfielder, Adam Piscioneri, received a ball from just outside the box and hit a low powerful drive into the bottom corner of the net.

It took another 20 minutes of Adelaide United pressure for the fourth and final goal to be scored. Great link up play between Thomas Love and Alec Maiolo, found Dylan Smith alone in the box who slotted his second for the day.

The game continued to be played in Adelaide United’s attacking half, with chance after chance being made, but unfortunately no reward.

The league’s leading goal scorer, Doni Pollock come very close in the final minutes of the game, but missed by inches.

Coach of the Young Reds Michael Valkanis was very satisfied with his side’s performance and ability to create and finish their chances.

“I was very happy with our performance against a well organised team. Our fluency through our possession and attacking play was great,” said Valkanis.

“There were great passages of play through good possession and great positional play that lead to the four goals and many chances missed.

“I liked the fact when Noarlunga equalised we showed courage and kept to our style.”
