Emily Condon says the upbeat morale amongst the players has helped contribute to Adelaide United’s early season success, and wants their strong form to continue against Melbourne City on Saturday.

Ivan Karlović’s side remains unbeaten following an impressive start to the Westfield W-League 2018/19 campaign, having recorded two wins and a draw from the opening three matches.

The Reds are also yet to concede a goal, and registered a 2-0 victory over Canberra United last Thursday night at Coopers Stadium.

Condon began by saying she was pleased with her side’s performance against the Capital club outfit.

“I think we were very pleased with how we went against Canberra,” Condon said.

“It’s always good to have the win, but we also played some pretty good football.”

The 20-year-old attributed the team’s great start to a solid pre-season and that the new arrivals to the squad have been able to adapt seamlessly to their new surroundings.

“I think we’re just reaping the rewards of our hard work,” she said.

“This is the best start to a season we’ve had over the whole course of eleven years of the W-League.

“But it’s been great so far and the whole team is gelling really well off the pitch which is helping on the pitch.”

City, meanwhile, lie in eighth place, suffering three defeats and a win.

It has been a slow start for the three-time reigning Westfield W-League champions, but Condon insisted they will not for one second be taking them lightly.

“Over the past few seasons we know that Melbourne City have been a very, very strong team and tough to beat,” she said.

“But we’re going into the game like we’re going to win it.

“They’re a very strong side and have a couple of strong players, but I think if we stick to our game plan and do what we’ve been doing, I think we’ll get the result.”
