Adelaide United Westfield W-League Head Coach, Ivan Karlovic, declared that his side are fully focused on their own football, in what will be a tough game in the Sunshine State against a hungry Brisbane Roar on Friday.

The Reds exceptionally came out on top against Perth Glory with a commanding 3-1 win at home last week, in an uplifting and memorable display.

And after their thrashing at the hands of Glory, Brisbane Roar rebounded quickly to triumph 1-0 over Western Sydney Wanderers.

Karlovic noted the fact that his side will focus on exceeding their own expectations, and working towards their improvement.

“We don’t intend on exceeding other people’s expectations but internally we have extremely high expectations of ourselves,” he said.

“And we’re only two games in, it’s still very early days and we’ll just need to continue to improve each week.

“We are getting better as a team, and I think as each week progresses, we will get better.

“We have become smarter in the way we play the game and knowing the moments of the game, in which I’m pleased how that is progressing.”

Ahead of their next challenge, Karlovic acknowledged the quality of Brisbane Roar, with the likes of Matilda, Katrina Gorry and Allira Toby, but he said that his Reds will take their season game by game.

“The game against Brisbane Roar this week will be a tough test for us, and it will be a difficult trip,” Karlovic continued.

“They are a very good side with a lot of experienced players, but we will continue to work on our game and continue to improve, and hopefully be at our best to try and get a result.

“And we take each game as it comes and that is the only challenge we are thinking about at this point in time.

“And we’ll go up to Brisbane and hopefully come back with some points.”

Adelaide United will travel to Suncorp Stadium to face Brisbane Roar for Round 4 of the Westfield W-League 2017/18 season on Friday 17 November 2017. Kick-off is at 4.50pm. Live broadcast on Fox Sports and SBS Viceland.
