Adelaide United Women’s Head Coach, Huss Skenderovic, remains confident as the Reds’ Women are set to face Canberra United in Round 5 of the Westfield W-League at Elite Systems Football Centre on Saturday night.

Adelaide United Women remain confident despite enduring a tough start to their campaign, as they continue on to claim their first win of the season, and buoy their spirits following a frustrating loss, as they return home.

Skenderovic’s side were unable to overcome Sydney FC Women at Seymour Shaw Park last weekend, suffering a 2-0 defeat, while Canberra United confidently swept past Newcastle Jets Women, with a 5-2 win.

Adelaide United Women’s Boss, Skenderovic, admitted that the end of their match against Sydney FC Women was unfortunate, but gives credit to their opponents.

”The own goal to seal Sydney FC’s win last week, caught us against the run of play, and was unfortunate with how the ball found the back of the net after their corner,” Skenderovic said.

“We really pushed harder during the second half, and we played much better, but credit must be given to Sydney FC as they were very good throughout the match.

“We gained a lot of confidence due to our performance at the back-end of the second half, but the home side came out that little bit stronger.

“It did give us the opportunity to take that confidence with us ahead of our match against Canberra United.”

Skenderovic emphasised on the fact there is no shortage of confidence within his playing group, and declared that the belief of being successful remains.

“In our meeting this week, we spoke about how we have shown that we are creating chances, and there has not been any limit on them,” Skenderovic continued. “We always stay in the game, and keep pushing teams, and there is always that chance there for us to win.

“Even though the results aren’t there, we have demonstrated that we can maintain this belief to win games.

“The team is confident and remain in high spirits, they get along perfectly and work exceptionally together.”

Skenderovic believes that the Adelaide United Women can get their first win of the season, being back in home territory, and are up for the challenge against Canberra United.

“Our confidence is high with being at home this week, and having a break from travel, we can be more comfortable in our own territory.

“We will be able to contain more and take our chances, with the support from the home crowd and I hope we can execute in the final third, and produce more goals.

The chances are being created, so they aren’t discouraged, we get into good positions, we did have goal scoring opportunities against Sydney FC that could have potentially won us the game, so it is really positive, and there is always that chance of not only scoring one goal, but five, which is uplifting.”
