Adelaide United Women’s Head Coach, Huss Skenderovic, is anticipating a challenging encounter when his side takes on Sydney FC Women at Seymour Shaw Park in Round 4 of the Westfield W-League 2016/17 season on Sunday.

As the Adelaide United Women travel to Sydney for the second consecutive week, they will be looking to secure their first win of the Westfield W-League campaign, recording a draw and a loss in their first two games.

The Reds were unfortunate not to put away their chances and come away with three points, against Western Sydney Wanderers last weekend, losing 2-1, while Sydney FC defeated Melbourne Victory with a 2-1 win on the road meaning back-to-back wins for the Sky Blues.

However, Adelaide United Women boss, Skenderovic revealed he has been impressed with his players’ performances and determination, indicating their loss last week simply came down to luck.

“I would definitely put our defeat against Western Sydney Wanderers down to elements of luck, with the amount of chances we had,” Skenderovic said. “When we reviewed the video footage of the game, we saw that we had at least six to seven clear-cut chances on goal.

“One right at the end from Sofia Huerta, but then from a goal-kick, we ended up conceding, which was unfortunate.

“We definitely deserved to win that game but this time instead of a draw, it was a loss, but only just by a fingertip.”

Skenderovic believes that the defeat against Western Sydney Wanderers will propel the team to work harder this coming match against another New South Wales outfit who are currently second on the league ladder.

“It was unfortunate, but we are building on that, and it just goes to show that chances are being created and that is a positive.

“Hopefully all the opportunities that we have created keep getting created, and I am positive that it will continue.

“These chances will turn into more goals, and therefore, wins, and we need that especially ahead of Sydney FC.

“We will continue to play our football and stay true to our tactics, and that paired with the creation of chances, I am confident we can test Sydney FC and get a win.”
