Game 3 v Chinese Youth Select XI…

Adelaide United-s Weifang Cup team has recorded an impressive 3-1 win over a Chinese Youth team and in turn qualified for the quarter finals.

The team was dominant for the majority of the encounter, limiting their opponents to the occasional half chance. The Reds created numerous opportunities in the opening 45 minutes, Melling, Trimboli and Mileusenic all firng shots on target only to be denied by the goalkeeper.

But then in the 27th minute Awer Mabil showed how it was done after a great run on the right before a second goal came courtesy of an own goal in the shadows of half time.

The Chinese team came out with purpose after the break looking to respond but once again the South Australians stood tall with the midfield taking control, Mileusenic taking advantage of as he struck in the 76th minute.

United-s resilient defence finally succumbed through a free kick from outside the box that proved too good for keeper John Hall, but all in all it was another fine performance from the boys in red at the tournament.
