Melbourne Victory have taken the 3 points in a high scoring and thoroughly entertaining NYL match on Sunday morning at Lakeside Stadium winning the game 5-2. The Young Reds fought hard throughout the match but were forced to rue not capitalising in front of goal with the Victory making the most of their opportunities.
Adelaide played a great game of football with numerous passages of delightful build up play being rewarded with a shot on goal however the Reds could not find the back of the net.
The final score was not a true reflection of how well The Young Reds played. Adelaide were unlucky not to get something out of the match with four shots hitting the post and others finding the side netting. Goal scores for the Reds were Bruce Kamau and Matthew Bouzalas.
Adelaide United Youth team coach Michael Valkanis said “Without looking at the score and focusing purely on our football I was very happy, especially in that the second half, we improved our possession in the attacking half and created 6 very good opportunities which we should have capitalised on. On the other hand today we got punished for sloppy mistakes that sometimes with playing this attacking style can hurt you”.
The Young Reds play their final match of the season at Adelaide Airport Stadium (Thebarton Oval) on Saturday at 10am. Entry is free so come along and see the future of the club in action.
