Adelaide United FC interim Coach Michael Valkanis will watch Saturday-s match against Sydney FC from the stands after being given a one match ban by Football Federation Australia-s independent Match Review Panel (MRP).

The MRP convened this afternoon to consider the incident involving Valkanis in or around the 42nd minute of last Friday night-s 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory. The MRP has the authority to consider the incident as Valkanis was expelled from the field of play, its surrounds and the Technical Area.

The MRP confirmed that Valkanis will serve the Minimum Sanction of one (1) match, being the Mandatory Match Suspension.

During the term of the suspension, Valkanis must not:
1. enter the field of play, the surrounds of the field of play, the Technical Area, the players- race, the dressing rooms or any other place where Players or Team Officials are likely to assemble to prepare for that Match;
2. be seated in a area normally reserved for Players or Team Officials; and
3. within 2 hours of the start of the Match and within 1 hour of the conclusion of the Match, have any contact with:
(i) any media where the purpose of such contact is for it to be electronically broadcast to the public, including participating in any post-match press conference and participating in television or radio interviews; and
any Player or Team Official.
