To Adelaide United family,

Following on from my email earlier this week, I wanted to provide you with another update to keep you as informed as possible regarding the Club’s planning and preparations relevant to the COVID-19 virus.

If you are not aware, on Wednesday, Football Federation Australia (FFA) announced a rescheduling of the remaining fixtures of the Hyundai A-League over a condensed period of time as a result of the Federal Government’s restrictions on gatherings and recommendations on social distancing. This announcement did not include any confirmed rescheduled fixtures for Adelaide United, however we expect that we will have more detail soon as to how and where our remaining regular season games will played. Once we have this information, we will ensure all members and fans are provided an update.

The collective position of FFA, clubs, and players is that we all want to conclude the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season, as a goal we have been working towards since pre-season training commenced in June last year.

That said, we appreciate that societal priorities have changed significantly in the past weeks and that we all have health concerns not only for ourselves but perhaps, most importantly, for our families and friends. We do not want to understate the role football plays in this regard, bringing an element of normality back to our lives.

We continue to work diligently to protect the welfare of our players and that won’t be compromised. The Club has implemented strict protection protocols, which apply to all players, coaches, and staff across both training sessions and travel. These include player temperature monitoring, distribution of additional hand sanitisers, thorough sterilisation of the Adelaide United Training Centre and no unnecessary contact with external staff and stakeholders.

Whilst having a bye this weekend, the players have been training all week. From today they will be off until Monday, exercising necessary hygiene precautions in-line with advice from FFA, government, and our club doctor to ensure their health and safety.

Meanwhile, our administration staff have increased their focus on concluding the remainder of this campaign off the field, albeit whilst they work from home. We’re working hard to offer additional benefits to our members over the coming days, with further communication imminent. The support the Club and the players continue to receive from our members has been overwhelming, and we keep this front of mind as the focus will shift back to winning football matches.

As mentioned before, should you have any further questions, please email us at info@aufc.com.au

Thanks again your support and understanding and I hope you and your families have a safe weekend.

Yours sincerely,

Nathan Kosmina
Chief Executive Officer
