United Women look for fresh start in the New Year

Adelaide United’s Women’s Team are focussed on kicking off their New Year with success as they face the Newcastle Jets in their first game of 2011.

Adelaide United-s Women-s Team are focussed on kicking off their New Year with success as they face the Newcastle Jets in their first game of 2011 on Saturday 8 January.

United-s Women suffered a 2-nil loss when the sides met in the opening week of the season, but Reds and former Newcastle Jets defender Stacey Day says there is a steely determination to reverse the result this time around.

“We should have had at least a point or all three from our first game, but we dropped out heads,” Day said.

“Our focus this game is being solid at the back, marking tight, and stopping silly errors that end up being costly.”

“If we can put all of this together, limit our errors and finish accurately, there-s no reason we can-t come away with the points”.

Still searching for a first win of the season, United-s Women have just three games to break the drought. While not much has gone right so far this season, United-s Women will be hoping that the break over the festive season will give them a change of fortune, rather than stemming any momentum and cohesion they had been building with each game they played.

“For our first game back we want to start off on a high, as the last few games we should have come away with points on the board,” Day said.
