As Adelaide United prepare to take on Melbourne City at AAMI Park on Sunday, here are three memorable wins on the road.

0-2 win – 08/04/16 @ AAMI Park

On the final round of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 regular season, Adelaide knew a win would keep alive their chances of securing the Premiers’ Plate. And they got off to the ideal start against City when Isaías scored a delightful curling free-kick which crept in at the near-post inside four minutes.

On the stroke of half-time goalkeeper Thomas Sørensen unnecessarily bundled into Stefan Mauk and conceded a penalty. Bruce Djite stepped up and confidently dispatched his spot-kick, sending the Dane the wrong way. That penalty sealed a 2-0 victory which ultimately clinched the Minor Premiership.

1-2 win – 31/10/14 @ AAMI Park

A fast start by the hosts saw Patrick Kisnorbo head home from a corner. However, the lead would be extinguished after Tarek Elrich’s brilliant whipped cross found Bruce Djite and he clinically directed his header beyond Andrew Redmayne.

Adelaide were then awarded a spot-kick following a foul which invited Marcelo Carrusca the opportunity to net the match-winner. There was never any doubt as the Argentine accurately buried his penalty.

1-3 win – 04/01/12 @ AAMI Park

Adelaide secured an impressive 3-1 win over the then named Melbourne Heart to make it back-to-back triumphs for the first time that season. Sergio van Dijk put the Reds ahead when he calmly converted his penalty on 37 minutes following a foul on Bruce Djite. A perfectly-weighted pass for Dario Vidošić allowed him to latch on to it and finish his effort past the onrushing ‘keeper.

Francisco Usúcar then played in van Dijk for his brace when he used his body to great effect, expertly rolling his man, before firing a low strike into the bottom corner. However, leading 3-0, Adelaide could not hold on to the clean sheet as Eli Babalj brilliantly grabbed a consolation in stoppage time.
