Adelaide United is delighted to announce Ryan Strain has signed a two-year contract extension with the Club.

Strain’s new deal means he will remain in Adelaide until the conclusion of Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season.

The 20-year-old had only put pen-to-paper on a one-year scholarship contract before the start of the campaign after impressing in the Reds’ Youth Team.

However, following several assured displays since making his debut against the Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 8, the full-back has now been rewarded with his first senior deal.

Furthermore, after Strain made his maiden appearance for the Club, he became the 30th Adelaide United player to progress from the Young Reds to the first team.

Speaking on re-signing with the Club, Strain, who has started in all four of his league matches this year, said: “I’m extremely happy to sign a two-year extension.

“I didn’t think it would happen this quickly to be honest but I’m extremely happy to have re-signed with Adelaide.”

“Obviously I’ve been working hard all through pre-season, trying to get my spot in the team and then when it came you just have to take your chance.

“I’m just really happy because I think I took my chance and glad Ante (Kovacevic) and Marco (Kurz) offered me a two-year deal.”

Meanwhile, Adelaide United Head Coach, Marco Kurz, said he was delighted to have secured Strain for a further two seasons.

“Ryan is proving to be a strong defender and has come into our starting team very smoothly,” Kurz said.

“I am delighted that Ryan has decided to extend his career with us at Adelaide and I can see much improvement in his football over this time.

“Ryan has been working hard all season and I am sure he will continue to do this throughout his time with us.”
