Adelaide have boasted a formidable record against the Sky Blues in recent times as they are undefeated in ten of their previous eleven matches. Furthermore, during this run, United have managed an impressive five clean sheets in their past eight meetings with the Harbour outfit, including a 0-0 stalemate in Round 8 this season.

Coopers Stadium has proven a fruitless hunting ground for Sydney, yet to win in the city of churches since February 2012. Their past six visits to Adelaide has yielded three draws and three defeats.

The Boxing Day encounter will also be just the fourth time Adelaide have played a fixture on a Monday. The Reds’ only Monday loss occurred way back in October 2006 against Sydney (W1, D1, L1).

Adelaide have incidentally amassed 85 corners so far this season, the most in the Hyundai A-League and 17 greater than their New South Wales opponents.

Reds striker, Sergi Guardiola, has been on target with 75% of his headed shots at goal this campaign. It is the most accurate of any player in the competition to have attempted four or more headed efforts.

Adelaide United host Sydney FC in Round 12 of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season on Monday, 26 December at Coopers Stadium. Kick-off is at 7.20pm ACDT.
