Adelaide United is delighted to announce the signing of English forward, Fiona Worts, for the Westfield W-League 2020/21 season.
Worts arrives with ample experience having represented both Leicester City Women Football Club and Coventry United in the FA Women’s Championship – the second division of women’s football in England.
The attacker has also played in the Women’s National Premier League (WNPL) on two separate occasions here in Adelaide.
In 2017 Worts was at Adelaide University, netting nine goals in 14 league matches and this year with Fulham United she scored 11 goals in 14 matches across all competitions.
After agreeing to join the Club, Worts said: “I’m incredibly excited, I had to work incredibly hard for it and it’s a big opportunity for me and really excited to start the season.
“I just want to get some minutes on the pitch and try and prove that I deserve to be playing there.
“I think as a Club we’re all pushing for a finals position, so it’s about taking each game as it comes and trying to get as many points as we can.”
Adelaide United’s Westfield W-League Head Coach, Adrian Stenta, said: “Fiona is a player we believe can offer a lot to our team.
“She is a forward with experience and has scored goals wherever she has played.”
Adelaide United’s Head of Women’s Football, Ivan Karlović, said: “We felt we needed a few more senior players in our squad and Fiona ticks that box.
“With her inclusion I think we’ve found that right balance of youth and experience and we’re confident she can make an impact on and off the field.”
