Adelaide United is delighted to officially announce the signing of experienced Spanish midfielder, Juande, for the remainder of the A-League 2020/21 season.

The 34-year-old most recently enjoyed a short stint in the Indian Super League with Kerala Blasters after two years with Perth Glory.

Juande began his career with Real Betis B, playing alongside current Reds teammate Javi, before being promoted to the senior team and made his La Liga debut during the 2006/07 season.

He went onto amass more than 60 matches with Los Verdiblancos across the top-flight and Segunda División.

The midfielder has also been on the books of Granada and Ponferradina either side of plying his trade with Belgium outfit Westerlo.

Juande later spent three seasons in Italy with then Serie B club Spezia between 2014 and 2018, but was loaned back to Spain for the 2016/17 season with UCAM Murcia.

Speaking on becoming the seventh Spaniard to represent the Reds, Juande said: “I am very happy to be joining Adelaide United and returning to the A-League.

“The A-League is a very good competition and I am looking forward to joining my teammates after finishing quarantine with my family.

“The team is performing very well and in a good position and I hope to positively add to this as we continue to fight for wins and make the finals.”

Adelaide United Director of Football, Bruce Djite, said: “We’re delighted to have signed Juande until the end of the season.

“Juande adds a wealth of experience and significant quality to the squad.

“He is a strong character and a great person who will fit in seamlessly and further enhance the tremendous club culture we have all built.

“We have been meticulous in our search for another midfielder, aware of the need to bring in more experienced players to help our younger players and improve the squad.

“Juande ticks those boxes, not to mention he is already familiar with the A-League.

“Now that he has finished his mandatory two weeks quarantine, he will join the squad and we will all help him adapt to our style of play and his new surroundings as quickly as possible.
