Adelaide United FC is proud to announce that Bruce Djite has committed to the Reds for another two years, after putting pen-to-paper on a contract that will see him at Hindmarsh until 2016/17.

Djite was first signed by United in 2006 and remained a Red until 2008 before exploring a European opportunity with Gençlerbirliği in Turkey’s Süper Lig.

He returned to Adelaide at the start of the Hyundai A-League 2011/12 Season and has now cemented his spot as one of the club’s most experienced and senior players, as well as continuing to be adored by Reds’ supporters.

In the last two seasons, our No. 11 has excelled under head-coach, Josep Gombau, and won the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup in December last year.

This season, Djite has made a total of 15 appearances in all competitive competitions, scoring eight goals in the process.

Speaking about his contract extension, Djite said: “I’ve re-signed because we have a good team here and we’ll come close (to winning more silverware) this year.

“If we can keep this team together for another couple of seasons then we’ll definitely be challengers.

“We won the Westfield FFA Cup and it was a great feeling and it would be great to win more (trophies). I said it after we won (the FFA Cup) trophy – it’s good to win, but it’s even better to win with this group of guys. We’ve bonded well together and it really is a family atmosphere that we have around the club.

“We have the potential to do big things and you obviously need a bit of luck with injuries and all of those sorts of things. But the team is definitely not just good quality on the field, but off it as well, which to find is rare.

“But I can’t discount the fans (in all of this) because they’ve always been fantastic towards me. All around there are a lot of good things about Adelaide United and I’m looking forward to staying here and re-signing was always the priority.

“I want to play well and represent this club in a good manner. There’s still a lot that I’d like to achieve and if I keep working hard with this team, I think we can achieve our goals.”

This encouraging news comes after a busy couple of weeks for Adelaide United, as the contract extensions of Sergio Cirio and Jordan Elsey have already been confirmed. In addition, the Reds have also obtained the signature of Spanish forward Miguel Palanca, for the remainder of the season, as well as securing youngster Bruce Kamau for the 2015/16 season.
