Adelaide United fell 1-2 to Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 2 of the Westfield W-League 2017/18 season at Marconi Stadium on Friday night, as a late Rosie Sutton goal secured the hosts all three points.

American, Makenzy Doniak was impressive all match and scored her maiden goal for Adelaide United.

In charge of his first league game for the Club, Head Coach, Ivan Karlovic handed the Reds’ other new U.S star, Alyssa Mautz her Westfield W-League debut.

Newly-appointed Captain Emma Checker, and Jenna McCormick started for Adelaide upon their return to the Club.

And a few familiar names from last season made the Starting XI including Eliza Campbell, who was stupendous in goals, Emily Hodgson, Georgia Campagnale, Emily Condon, Adriana Jones, Katie Naughton and Danielle Colaprico.

A fast start from Western Sydney saw Lo’eau LaBonta make it 1-0 on 12 minutes with a strike past Campbell, after collecting a loose ball from the edge of the area.

However, 11 minutes later, Doniak levelled the scoring with a nicely curled shot into the back of the net.

It was chance after chance for both sides with Campbell keeping the Reds on the game, but it was Sutton who claimed a deflected ball and struck from close range in the 90th minute to score the winner.
