Reds play out 0-0 draw with Western United

Adelaide United has been held to a 0-0 draw with Western United in a pre-season friendly at Morshead Park in Ballarat on Saturday afternoon.

Riley McGree came the closest to opening the scoring for the Reds when his shot was well saved by Filip Kurto in goal for the hosts.

Paul Izzo was called into action a few minutes later after tipping over Joshua Cavallo’s set-piece.

Kurto had to produce a diving save six minutes before half-time to ensure the score remained on level terms.

Al Hassan Toure was introduced after half-time and, following a surging run, saw his shot comfortably dealt with by the Polish gloveman.

Andrew Durante tried his luck from distance in the 70th minute but his long-range strike landed just wide.

The Reds will continue training in Victoria before they play two friendlies against Melbourne City on Tuesday, wrapping up their five-day pre-season camp.

AUFC Starting XI: Izzo; Marrone, Elsey, Jakobsen, Kitto; Boland, Konstandopoulos, McGree; Mileusnić, Opseth, Halloran.
