Adelaide United is delighted to have three players in the current Qantas Under 23 squad but at what cost does it come?

Adelaide United is delighted to have three players in the Australian Under 23 squad currently competing in the qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympics.

However, and this is not making any excuses or taking anything away from the Wellington Phoenix who deserved their victory last Friday night, as good as it is to have some of Australia’s best young talent in United’s squad, consider the impact of the Olyroos’ qualifiers on the Hyundai A-League.

For Adelaide United’s match against the Phoenix and also this Sunday’s game against Gold Coast United, the Reds are without the services of Daniel Mullin, Antony Golec and Mark Birighitti, while Wellington and the Gold Coast do not have any representatives in the Olyroos squad.

The Olyroos lost 2-nil yesterday to Uzbekistan in freezing conditions in Tashkent with Mullen coming off the bench in the 69th minute, while Birighitti and Golec were both substitutes.

Home Match Player Lap of the Pitch
The club would like to apologise to any disappointed fans for the players not completing a lap of the pitch following the game in an organised manner. This will be rectified for future match regardless of the result and fans can expect the players to comply commencing at the game against Sydney FC on February 19 with the squad splitting in half and completing the lap in opposite directions.
