Adelaide United will host the Western Sydney Wanderers in the 2016 Hyundai A-League Grand Final at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, 1 May.
Following Adelaide United’s demolition of Melbourne City at Coopers Stadium on Friday night, running out comfortable 4-1 winners, the Reds earned the right to host the 2016 Hyundai A-League Grand Final in South Australia.
This adds to what has already been a successful campaign for the Club, with Guillermo Amor leading his side to the Premiership in the last round of the regular season, clinching the Club’s first Premiers’ Plate since the 2005/06 season.
The Wanderers overcame the Roar at Pirtek Stadium on Sunday afternoon, securing their spot at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, 1 May.
Commenting on having Western Sydney as United’s Grand Final opponents, Adelaide’s Head Coach, Amor, said he and his team are looking forward to the challenge of overcoming one of the competition’s strongest sides.
“We are happy to be playing Western Sydney in the Grand Final at Adelaide Oval next week,” Amor said.
“They are a very strong team and they play some very good football, so we will need to be at our best to win the match.
“This season they have been a very tough opponent and we have had some very good matches against them this season, so I am sure the game will be fantastic.
“But, like always, we are confident we can win this match and our team deserves to be Champions.
“They have never stopped working for this goal and now all their hard work has to be shown in the biggest game of our season.
“We look forward to seeing a full Adelaide Oval in what will be a very special game for Adelaide United and our fans, but also for all the people of South Australia.”
