Professional footballers eating donuts during the middle of pre season – surely not? It may not be an image that comes to mind when thinking about the Reds squad-s diet and training routine, but Zenon Caravella and Daniel Mullen made a special exception for a worthy cause.

If you had to look twice to believe what you were seeing with the images of Reds defender Daniel Mullen and new signing Zenon Caravella tucking into a couple of donuts, don-t worry, it-s not the club-s latest plan pre-season plan to have the guys raring to go come the start of the Hyundai A-League season.

Iced donuts were on the menu in Rundle Mall as part of the Salvation Army Donut Day. Mullen and Caravella joined local radio, TV and other South Australian celebrities for the annual event, which involves icing and decorating donuts and completing an obstacle course. The event was all in support of the Salvation Army-s Red Shield Appeal.
