Adelaide United will travel to face Heidelberg United in the Quarter Finals of the Westfield FFA Cup 2017.

The Reds beat the Newcastle Jets 1-0 in the Round of 32 after Michael Marrone’s header broke the deadlock at Marden Sports Complex.

Adelaide then advanced from the last 16, dispatching fierce rivals Melbourne Victory 3-0 last Wednesday night. Meanwhile, Heidelberg United beat Sydney United 58 on penalties last week to head into the Quarter Finals.

George Blackwood’s penalty sandwiched between stunning strikes from Johan Absalonsen and Nathan Konstandopoulos completed a remarkable second-half performance.

Following the draw, Reds Head Coach, Marco Kurz said: “We are very excited to play against Heidelberg United in the next round of the Westfield FFA Cup.

“So far this competition has been very beneficial for us and it is going to be another difficult game, this time away from home.

“We will do our homework on Heidelberg and we will prepare for this game like we did against Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory.

“This competition is important to us and we are playing in it to be the winners.”

The date and venue of the match will be announced in the coming days.
