Adelaide United Captain, Isaías, was proud of his side’s fighting qualities in their spirited 2-1 win over Melbourne Victory on Friday.

Baba Diawara headed the Reds into the lead with a sumptuous header, before Mark Milligan restored parity after half-time.

However, substitute George Blackwood scored the match-winner finishing off a brilliant move created by Nikola Mileusnic, before United was reduced to nine men.

The Spaniard played arguably his best game of the campaign as he bossed the centre of the park with aplomb, orchestrating attacks and sweeping in front of the back four.

Isaías said he was delighted to have come away with the three points, after Adelaide clinched their first win at Etihad Stadium in more than 11 years.

“It’s a good feeling,” he told Fox Sports after the game.

“We knew that it’s a tough game for us whenever we play against them it’s a very hard game.

“But look we fight until the end, we play with nine men and we get the three points.”

The Spaniard also praised goalkeeper, Paul Izzo, for another sensational outing as he pulled off six key saves.

He thwarted Besart Berisha from the spot as well as perform an instinctive save to prevent an own goal off the head of Ersan Gülüm in the 97th minute.

“He was fantastic,” he stated.

“I think he’s playing good all season and we are lucky to have him.”

Isaías also discussed the influence Head Coach, Marco Kurz, has had on this team.

“I think he’s encouraging us to play together,” he continued.

“To run, to fight and I think sometimes this makes the difference.”

Adelaide United will face Newcastle Jets in Round 11 of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season on Saturday, 16 December at McDonald Jones Stadium. Kick-off is at 5.05pm ACDT.
