Reds celebrate with champagne-soaked media conference

Champagne flowed from the Reds’ dressing room into the post-match press conference as United’s players celebrated their Championship win over Wanderers on Sunday.

The Reds did the double on Sunday winning the Hyundai A-League Grand Final just weeks after winning the Premiership.

It marked one of the most remarkable turnarounds in A-League and Aussie sporting history.

As coach Gui Amor and set-piece hero Isaias answered questions by the media, a throng of Reds stars lead by Marcelo Carrusca and Bruce Djite interrupted proceedings spraying bottles of champagne over their boss and man of the match Isaias.

After the soaking, the Spanish midfielder said winning the A-League Grand Final was the crowing moment in his career.

“This is a special moment in my career, 100% [the biggest moment]” he said.

“The biggest trophy and in this moment I’m so proud of my teammates for all the coaching staff the fans for the city, for everyone.”

Isaias’ set-piece lit up the final giving the Reds a 2-0 lead going into the break. 

And the Spaniard deservedly won the Joe Marston medal for player of the match. 

“I think it was a beautiful goal. I took the responsibility,” said Isaias. 

“I want to say thanks to my teammates for helping me play well. I didn’t ask to receive this medal but I’m very happy for that.” 

Amor added the plaudits should be for the players and the fans. 

“It was a special day. For a coach you can’t touch the ball. In this moment I’m happy, very happy but this is for them [the players].

“The playing group is a special group of players. I’m happy we achieved this, it’s not easy to arrive and not easy to win.

“But we are here and we win. We deserve to win this game.

“It was a big day for Adelaide. The last week was a different week a special week. The people in the street were saying, ‘C’mon, c’mon, c’mon’ 

“But today is the final the stadium was full and supporters were fantastic. The city today is happy.”
