Adelaide United is delighted to announce it has compiled an AUFC Legends squad for its clash against the Australian Defence Force Open Men’s Football Team as part of commemorating Remembrance Round.
The AUFC Legends side will take on the Australian Defence Force (ADF) at Coopers Stadium on Sunday afternoon at 1.35pm, prior to the Reds’ Hyundai A-League match against Perth Glory.
Fans are encouraged to get down to Coopers Stadium early and watch some of the Reds’ most iconic players, boasting over 1300 matches between them, take to the field.
Two former servicemen, Leeham Lawton and Ricky Skiathitis, both from the 7th Battalion, will represent Soldier On as part of the Legends line-up.
The Soldier On brand will feature on the front of the AUFC Legends’ playing jerseys in the match, worn by the likes of Travis Dodd, Angelo Costanzo and Cássio.
Soldier On is a support service for those who have served our nation and their families.
The initiative will help generate awareness of the tremendous work they do for the former servicemen and servicewoman, as well as raise funds at Coopers Stadium in the precincts.
Soldier On assists those that have worked in the ADF and other National Security Agencies which include Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, among other security organisations.
In addition, Adelaide United will have special ticket offers for serving ADF members to recognise and thank those in the defence forces.
Moreover, as a Club we will use the opportunity to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal through the auctioning off of the Reds’ commemorative playing kits which will be used during the round.
