Reds align with Valley View Secondary School for elite pathway extension

Adelaide United is excited to announce a partnership with Valley View Secondary School to develop an elite football educational programme as part of its curriculum.

The agreement will see Valley View invest in school infrastructure with full-sized and professional-standard football facilities, while United will provide guidance over the development of the football programme for students.

A fundamental element to this programme will not only see support given to students to achieve athletic brilliance, but to also achieve academic excellence in their day-to-day studies. Encouraging students in their pursuit to be successful in both football and academia will help them recognise their potential in each field and challenge their minds for future benefit.

As part of the talent identification process, Adelaide United and Valley View Secondary School will launch school engagement programmes throughout 2019 ahead of the programme’s inaugural commencement in February 2020, with two talented groups of female and male Year 8 footballers offered positions in late-2019.

Adelaide United Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Kosmina, said the fostering of the new partnership would benefit the development of young female and male footballers, creating opportunities not only for their football careers, but their future academic prospects more broadly.

“Our partnership with Valley View Secondary School will open the doors for young footballers to develop in an elite environment, focused on technical, tactical, and leadership growth,” Kosmina said.

“Furthermore, it will provide students with a platform to develop their academic abilities, creating a foundation for success both on and off the field.”

Valley View Secondary School Principal, Greg Cox, said: “We are very excited about our partnership with Adelaide United and the positive impact it will have on our school.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for young male and female elite athletes to develop their football skills in a professional environment and within the quality education programme they will receive at Valley View Secondary School.

“Valley View is committed to providing opportunities for all students to achieve academic excellence, develop leadership skills, and nurture positive personal characteristics to ensure all students have a strong, successful pathway beyond school.

“This partnership provides opportunities for these students to enter the community as young adults with high-order technical and personal skills.”
