An intriguing contest awaits in Brisbane as the Roar host an Adelaide United side who remain somewhat of an unknown quantity.
The Roar of course will start as solid favourites having seen off champions Canberra United in their opener, and then securing a 3-0 win at Western Sydney Wanderers.
The latter result was achieved without their Westfield Matildas, but Clare Polkinghorne, Katrina Gorry and Tameka Butt – the latter having celebrated her 50th Westfield Matildas cap in midweek – all return to Roar duty this weekend making for an imposing line-up.
On the flipside, Adelaide remain somewhat of an unknown quantity with a squad that contains a significant numbers of new players. Many are new at this level, but they are also bolstered by several international players lending important experience.
Adelaide have only ever defeated Brisbane once in 10 attempts. That lone win was a storied and unlikely victory two years ago in Brisbane. Will history repeat once again this time around?
