The Lady Reds host the visiting Perth Glory at Adelaide Shores on Sunday evening, in a match that has twice been rescheduled due to sweltering conditions.
Adelaide have endured a mini-slump in recent week after their unexpectedly bright start to the season.
But the Lady Reds seem just a single win away from regaining their momentum. Indeed, a win here could potentially lift them to third and well on track for what was, at one-time, an unthinkable finals berth.
Adelaide have been able to field a consistent squad week-in, week-out, and new coach Jamie Harnwell has also maintained a rare sense of team spirit that the club during Ross Aloisi’s tenure.
This match will be interesting experience for Harnwell who lifted Perth Glory to the premiership in style, only to depart during the off-season in somewhat acrimonious circumstances.
Another Perth Glory club legend has since assumed the reigns – Bobby Despotovski – and the one-time Johnny Warren medallist has enjoyed a mixed tenure to date.
His side secured a famous win at Brisbane Roar and were unlucky to lose at Sydney FC, but have also suffered some disappointing defeats.
The most notable of these was just last weekend with a loss against bottom side Melbourne Victory. Despotovski must be wondering just which Perth Glory will show up at Adelaide Shores on Sunday evening.
