Isaías says his Adelaide United teammates are fully focused on securing the three points after a couple of days off when they host the Central Coast Mariners at Coopers Stadium on Boxing Day.

Marco Kurz’s men will be hoping their Christmas wish of a win comes true as they look for a response from Round 11’s contentious defeat to the Newcastle Jets.

After returning to training on Friday following two rest days, the Adelaide Captain said the team are geared up for the important match.

“It’s time to work hard and prepare for the next game on Boxing Day,” he said.

“And I think it’s a good time to start thinking about the game because we have a very important game.”

The 30-year-old said the longer than usual break between games has been beneficial for a couple of reasons.

“I think it’s good to have some time with the family to rest, to disconnect sometimes is nice,” he said.

“But now it’s time to switch on and be ready.”

The Reds will be buoyed by the return of key duo Daniel Adlung and Ben Garuccio from suspension.

Isaías said it is always a positive when players return, before alluding to the fact that the squad’s strength in depth means any loss can be filled adequately.

“I think it’s very good when players come back… But I know that we have a big squad and anyone can play,” he said.

“And I hope that everyone is ready for the next game.”

Isaías went on to add that he has enjoyed forging a dynamic partnership with Adlung as well as the rest of the midfielders.

“He’s a big player, he’s a good boy and I’m really enjoying the time with him,” he said.

“But also Vince Lia is doing really well, Nathan (Konstandopoulos) is doing really well as well.”

The Spaniard also provided an update on Johan Absalonsen, who is nearing a return from a quad injury which has sidelined the Dane for the majority of the Hyundai A-League season.

“I think he’s working really hard the last couple of weeks,” he stated.

“And I think he’s getting closer and ready and I hope we can see him back very soon.

“He’s an important player, an experienced player so I think he can give us a lot of things.”

Adelaide United host Central Coast Mariners in Round 12 of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season on Tuesday, 26 December at Coopers Stadium. Kick-off is at 7.20pm ACDT.
