Pablo Sánchez: Our hard work must continue

After providing the winning goal to get the Reds over the line against Perth Glory on Sunday evening, Pablo Sánchez has urged his teammates to continue their progress and hard work ahead of another difficult test in Sydney FC on Friday.

ADLvSYD Round 10

It was Pablo Sánchez’s decisive chip over Ante Covic in Perth’s goal that proved the difference between United and the Glory on Sunday night, helping the Reds secure their maiden win of season 2015/16.

But despite the confident showing against this season’s Westfield FFA Cup Runners-Up, Pablo Sánchez has called upon his teammates not to relax, as there is still a long way to go.

“We needed this win because we’ve been working for it all season and we need to have this feeling every week,” Pablo Sánchez said.

“Finally the three points have come to us at home and we’re really happy for it.

“But we’re not going to relax at any second. We’ve not (achieved) anything yet and we must stay focussed.”

United’s next opponent is Sydney FC, who are coming off a narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle Jets last weekend, their first win in five matches.

Pablo Sánchez, however, says the Reds are completely aware of the threats that the Sky Blues could pose and will be prepared for another very difficult match,

“Now we start our work for next Friday (when we play Sydney FC).

“No games are easy in this competition because I think the level of the A-League this year is better than last season. All the teams are doing well and (at this moment) we’re not doing so well on the table.

“Our match with Sydney will be a very tough game against a team that is very physically strong. But if we have the ball and create chances like against Glory, I think we can win the game.”

Adelaide United will face Sydney FC in Round 10 of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season on Friday, 11 December 2015 at Coopers Stadium. Kick-off is at 7.10pm ACDT.
