Kristian Opseth says he is looking forward to the start of the Hyundai A-League season.

Opseth arrived at the Club in July, agreeing to a one-year contract and made his official Reds debut in the 1-0 FFA Cup Quarter Final win against Newcastle Jets.

Speaking at the Club’s 2019/20 Season Launch held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Opseth said experiencing a long pre-season has been strenuous but exactly what he needed to get himself fit.

“It’s been tough,” he revealed.

“I needed the three months pre-season. I needed a bit extra-long pre-season this year and I liked it.

“The group of people here and everything here has been great.”

Aside from a six-month stint in Turkey, the 29-year-old has spent the entirety of his career in his native Norway.

He said he has heard stories about the blistering heat he will likely encounter come the summer months from his teammates.

“I heard that (playing in) January is tough even the people that are used to playing here struggle, so I guess I’ll struggle as well,” he jokingly said.

Opseth bagged his first goals for Adelaide when he scored a double against Melbourne City in a friendly last week.

The striker said his primary goal was ensuring team success above any individual targets.

“First of all, I want to do well for the team and make the team do well,” he said.

“I feel like I’m a hard-working player and I really, really hate losing so they’ll probably see some of that as well.

“I’m not the best loser. So hopefully there won’t be a lot of that.”

Adelaide United face Central Coast Mariners in the Semi-finals of the FFA Cup 2019 on Wednesday, 2 October at Central Coast Stadium. Kick-off is at 7.00pm ACST. Live and Exclusive on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.
