The Adelaide United Youth Team will host Perth Glory’s Youth in Round 9 of the Foxtel National Youth League on Sunday morning.

In what was a memorable last time out for the Young Reds, Michael Valkanis’ men will be looking to seal the Conference A minor premiership when they again face the Glory.

The Young Reds will be heading into the clash full of confidence, after dispatching their cross-border rivals, Melbourne Victory, 2-1 in Victoria last weekend.

Head Coach of United’s Youth Team, Michael Valkanis, has commended his sides’ effort in bouncing back last weekend, but admits the job isn’t entirely complete, meaning nothing short of a good performance is expected on Sunday .

“The boys bounced back beautifully and it was how I expected them to play and perform against Victory last weekend,” said Valkanis.

“So it’s very encouraging to see how they went about their football against a quality side in Melbourne Victory, in particular to be attack-minded and unafraid considering what happened against the Roar a couple weeks back.

“At the end of the day, the win meant a lot and you can see how the game against Brisbane although was shattering for us, assisted us in striving to win and we did that in unbelievable circumstances last weekend.”

Looking onto this week’s match, the Young Reds recorded a 3-1 victory against the Glory in Round 5, however Valkanis still knows the importance of the clash despite sitting five points adrift of Conference A.

“Last week against Melbourne we played quite risky and with the personnel that we had it was limiting us at times,” said Valkanis.

“However, this week we regain Ben Warland and we are definitely working on what we did well last time against Perth to hopefully override them again.”

The Young Reds currently sit on top of the Foxtel National Youth League Conference A, with a win this weekend potentially extending their advantage over their nearest competition to seven points.

Adelaide United Youth Team will face Perth Glory Youth Team in Round 9 of the Foxtel National Youth League 2015/16 season on Sunday, 10 January at the Elite Systems Football Centre. Kick-off is at 9.45pm ACDT.
