The Adelaide United Youth Team will travel to play the Perth Glory Youth Team in Round 5 of the Foxtel National Youth League at the Ashfield Sports Centre on Saturday afternoon.

Having returned to winning ways last weekend with an edgy 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar’s Youth team, Head Coach of the Young Reds, Michael Valkanis, was pleased to have defeated quality opposition, however said he and his team are heavily focused on the task Glory will present this weekend.

“Obviously we can be very proud of our efforts last weekend against a very good footballing side in the Brisbane Roar,” said Valkanis.

“However, we need to make sure that we focus on playing the full 90 minutes and that we connect well in making the final pass, as last week we just weren’t able to capitalise on chances.

“So we will evaluate Glory’s squad and hopefully we can take three points away from home.”

Valkanis went on to mention his side’s inability to put chances in the back of the net through the season so far, despite scoring seven goals in three games.

“We always want to score more goals, but in particular last week when we were a bit hesitant in front of goal,” said Valkanis.

“This week we need to focus on taking our chances and hopefully we can create enough to score and beat Perth.

“Overall, I think it will be a tough game but if we can play to our structure, play the full 90 minutes and take our chances, we should hopefully override them.”

The Adelaide United Youth Team currently sits in second position behind the Brisbane Roar Youth Team meaning a win against Perth could see the Young Reds jump into first position in Conference A of the NYL.

Adelaide United Youth Team will face Perth Glory Youth Team in Round 5 of the Foxtel National Youth League 2015/16 season on Saturday, 5 December at Ashfield Reserve. Kick-off is at 1.00 pm ACDT.
