Adelaide United Youth are at home this week, against Campbelltown City in Round 7 of the South Australian National Premier League 2018 Season, at Smith Partners Stadium.

After a tough run of fixtures, the Young Reds were finally rewarded with three-points against South Adelaide Panthers in Round 6 of the NPL last Wednesday.

Captain, Paul Wilson, was ecstatic with United’s performance, and was eager to continue this run of form into their next match.

“Definitely a good all-round performance and we kept a clean sheet which is always pleasing, as well as starting to put away our chances,” Wilson said.

“It was a relief, because we’ve been playing a lot of good football and results hadn’t been going our way.

“We’ve always been competitive and we just hadn’t gotten the three-points which was just what we needed.”

The skipper was also quick to mention the return of fan favourite Pacifique Niyongabire, who returned to the squad last week against Panthers, after a calf injury.

“We’d missed Pac, he’s an exciting player and his energy and what he brings to the game,” he said.

“It’s just very hard knowing what he’s going to do, and he adds that bit of depth to our attack and it was great to have him back.

“He instantly had an impact and you saw glimpses of him in the game last week, as well as a goal.”

This week, United take on Campbelltown City in what promises to be an exciting fixture and a good test for the boys.

Wilson wasn’t deterred by the tough game and said his boys were raring to go come Easter Monday.

“We’re all very confident and we know we can do a job against anyone in the league, we’re unpredictable and we have a fit squad with no injuries or niggles so we’re ready to go,” he said.

“We don’t worry about the ladder, we don’t care where they are, we just care about how we’re going to play.”

The captain was also happy that the team was able to recuperate after two quick games in succession.

“This has been a needed break, and we’ve had a few extra training sessions this week, which help get some kilometres through the legs, as well as doing some heavier sessions early in the week, but the weekend off will be good,” he continued.

Adelaide United Youth play at the Smith Partners Stadium for Round 7 of the National Premier League 2018 season on Monday 2 April against Campbelltown City. Kick-off is at 3:00 PM ACDT.
