2018/19 Adelaide United Membership: It's about More Than Football

Adelaide United Youth travel to O’Sullivan Beach Sports Complex to face South Adelaide on Saturday in Round 17 of the South Australian National Premier League 2018 season.

The Young Reds are looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2-0 loss to reigning champions Croydon Kings snapped a four-match unbeaten run.

In what was always going to be a tough game for United, the Reds showed a lot of heart during a goalless first-half of football.

The Young Reds were unable to convert on their chances, with Carlo Armiento coming close twice, after being denied by the crossbar on both occasions.

However, it was disappointing result in the end, having recently come off of a series of great results against the league’s top sides, the Reds were just unable to break through the Croydon defence.

And Croydon capitalised late on, able to find goals through James Skeffington and Luke Klimek in the second half, putting the game to rest.

The Reds, currently fifth on the table, will be looking to move on from the Round 16 loss and return to winning form, in order to bolster their position in the top six.

With Adelaide Olympic close behind, the Young Reds will be aiming to further the gap between the two sides and push the team to securing a maiden finals spot.

United ran riot in the reverse fixture, winning 3-0 thanks to goals coming from Aladin Irabona, Apostolos Stamatelopoulos and Pacifique Niyongabire, who had recently returned from injury.

But Saturday will likely not be as straight forward with the Reds having to tackle South Adelaide on its makeshift pitch, due to the construction of an artificial pitch on the existing main ground.

Moreover, the Panthers’ form has improved of late and are undefeated in their past two games, while sitting in seventh spot on the table.

Adelaide United Youth face South Adelaide in Round 17 of the National Premier League 2018 season on Saturday, 30 June at O’Sullivan Beach Sports Complex. Kick-off is at 3.00 PM ACST.
