Adelaide United Youth aim to extend their unbeaten run to six games in Round 11 of the South Australian National Premier League 2018 Season, up against West Torrens Birkalla at Smith Partners Stadium.

The Young Reds are currently enjoying a rich vein of form as they look to strengthen their top six status and close the gap on the competition front runners.

Their recent 4-1 win against West Adelaide saw goals from Carlo Armiento, Apostolos Stamatelopoulos and Lachlan Brook, in what was a clinical performance.

Kristin Konstandopoulos, who starred in the win and won the penalty that led to Stamatelopoulos’ opening goal, was happy with the ruthlessness in front of goal.

“It was a great performance, one of the best, if not the best, performances for us in the season so far,” he said.

“It all seemed to be working well for us, offensively and defensively, I think we were solid especially in the first half.

“But we were dominant all game and we finished our chances but could have finished even more.”

Konstandopoulos was also quick to mention the morale around the team and the reflection of that in their displays over the undefeated streak.

“I think everybody is feeling good, I think everyone is confident and the morale in training and in games is great and this is a great time at the moment,” he said.

Although the win against West Adelaide saw the Young Reds leapfrog them on the ladder, Konstandopoulos was not too concerned with the team’s position in the standings or a temporary break with a week off between games.

“We’re not paying any attention to the ladder, just playing each game as it comes and focusing on our game, we know we can beat any opposition,” he stated.

“Birkalla is one of my old clubs and I’m keen, very excited to play, I can’t wait to get out there and try to secure those three-points.

“We’ve always tried to keep it at the same level and we had an internal game just to keep the legs moving and it’s been good.”

Adelaide United Youth host West Torrens Birkalla in Round 11 of the National Premier League 2018 season on Sunday, 13 May at Smith Partners Stadium. Kick-off is at 3.15pm ACST.
