Adelaide United-s W-League side is pleased to announce it has secured the services of former Australia and England international Kristy Moore as a guest player.

Moore, an Adelaide native, recently called time on a 15-year career spent playing at the highest level in England and Norway-s Toppserien league.

The speedy attacker will debut this week when the Lady Reds host Newcastle Jets on Saturday at Burton Park in Round 9 of the Westfield W-League, with the possibility of a second match against Brisbane Roar in Brisbane in Round 10.

“I-m very excited. I haven-t played here for a number of years so it-s quite exciting to be back in my home town again. I-ll be playing in front of my friends and family which I haven-t done for a number of years,” she said.

Moore returns to Adelaide after an illustrious career abroad, winning two FA Cups and a Premier League title with Fulham in England before heading to Norway where she won league and cup titles with Stabæk.

“I just felt it was the right time. It was either going to be stay in Norway forever or come home and I felt it was the right time. I missed my family and friends and I think it was the right point in my life,” she said.

Moore has also enjoyed a stunning record in front of goal in Norway and at the end of the 2011 season, she became the fifth-highest all time scorer in the Toppserien with over 130 goals.

“I-ve had so many good experiences, I-ve travelled so much and met so many people and played with so many great players. It-s been truly amazing, I can-t really put it into words,” she said.

While Moore-s time with the Lady Reds is limited, she is hoping to make a big impact in this short spell, before hinting a longer stint next season would be a likely option.

“I-d like to give it my all. I-ve heard a lot of good things about the team, they-re quite a few young players with a lot of potential,” she said.

“Hopefully I can come in and help out a bit with my experience. I-m used to a lot of running, out wide as a winger or a striker. I-ve got a bit of speed still.”

“Now I-m back and depending on work, I could play next season as well. We-ll just see how it goes.”
