Adelaide United winger Nikola Mileusnic has revealed he is enjoying his football as a professional with the Reds ahead of the Club’s Round 7 visit to face Perth Glory on Friday night.
Mileusnic was handed his Hyundai A-League and Reds debuts against Brisbane Roar in a 1-1 draw at the weekend, after recovering from a quad injury which forced him to miss the opening five games.
And upon making his debut, Mileunsic revealed it was a moment he would never forget and thanked, Head Coach, Guillermo Amor for the opportunity.
“The experience was brilliant, it was amazing, it’s what I’ve been working towards for a long time and I finally got the chance now and I’m very grateful and happy,” Mileusnic confessed.
“It was phenomenal, it was crazy I’ve no words to explain it really.”
The 23-year-old, who spent this year playing in the South Australian PS4 National Premier League with Adelaide City before joining United, said the most noticeable step up to the Hyundai A-League was the level of intensity.
“It was a different intensity, I’m still trying to get used to it,” Mileusnic said. “At the start when I first came on it was alright, but you’re always sprinting and you’re always getting back into position, it’s much faster than what I’ve been used to.”
Mileusnic revealed he is continuing to work tirelessly in the hope of cementing a starting berth and is confident the “results will soon come” if the squad remain determined.
“I’m just trying to work hard, train as hard as I can always trying to improve and learn from the older boys in the squad,” Mileusnic said.
“I think that’s what everyone is trying to do and I think if everyone works hard then we train better and hopefully we can bring that to the game.
“We just have to keep working hard and the results will come.”
Mileusnic also dismissed suggestions the Reds were bracing themselves for a physical encounter against the Glory, stating the Club is just focusing on themselves.
“We haven’t really spoken about the physicality of Perth (Glory), we go out there and play our own game,” he continued.
“We try and work on the things we’re good at and try and expose the other team with the things we train on and practice hard every week.
“I know we’re in a pretty tough position, but you can’t moan around you just have to keep working hard.”
Adelaide United will face Perth Glory in Round 7 of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season on Friday, 18 November at nib Stadium. Kick-off is at 9.30pm ACDT.
