Adelaide United fought back to earn a point away from home, and spoil Melbourne City’s party in a 1-1 draw in Round 6 of the Westfield W-League at Lakeside Stadium on Sunday.

Head Coach, Ivan Karlovic fielded an identical Starting XI from last week, in a bid to maintain consistency and get on the scoresheet.

An electric start for Melbourne City kept ‘keeper, Sarah Willacy and Adelaide defenders busy, firing several chances towards goal.

American, Ashley Hatch opened her account for City, and put them ahead, 14 minutes into the match.

Matildas, Kyah Simon and Steph Catley were at the forefront of attack and piled on relentless pressure, while Adelaide were limited of chances in the first-half.

Willacy continued to deny City, especially Hatch who looked certain to complete her brace.

72′ minutes in, Alyssa Mautz finished a low shot into the back of the net, following Jenna McCormick’s corner to equalise.

Willacy would then go from villain to hero first conceding a penalty, then tremendously denying Simon’s spot-kick to secure a vital point for Adelaide.
