New Friends, New Foes
When Adelaide United secured the signature of Jesse Makarounas it is fair to say not too many fans would have heard about the young attacking midfielder.
Joining the Reds from fierce rivals Melbourne Victory, after being released by the latter during the offseason, Makarounas was in search of a fresh start and more consistent playing time.
Ask anyone involved in the world game and they will likely tell you it is easier to make it, but staying at the top as a professional footballer is even harder. Yet Makarounas embodies the necessary traits required to experience success – having a thick skin and demonstrating persistence.
Some players may lose confidence and immediately begin to doubt their ability, questioning if they are good enough to remain at the highest level. But it is Makarounas’ resilience and determination to constantly improve which can be ascribed to the midfielder’s auspicious start to the Hyundai A-League this season.
