Adelaide United can announce Daniel Marguš has been released from his contract with the Club.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper made his debut for the Reds in a 3-1 win against Central Coast Mariners in January 2016.

Marguš, who primarily served as competition for Eugene Galeković and Paul Izzo, went on to accumulate eight appearances for the Club.

Director of Football, Bruce Djite, thanked Marguš for his time at the Club, saying: “Daniel has been a great servant to the Club and performed well whenever he was called upon.

“Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that there’s only room for one goalkeeper in the starting eleven and we are spoilt with some of the best young ‘keepers in the country.

“Of course, this increases development through fierce competition for spots, but naturally footballers want to be playing matches.

“We all agree that allowing Daniel to seek playing opportunities elsewhere is in everyone’s best interests and could well benefit us in the future – similar to the path Paul Izzo took a number of years ago.

“I can see Daniel having a successful career as a very talented goalkeeper and we believe he may well return to the Club one day.”

Everyone at Adelaide United thanks Daniel for his time at the Club and wishes him the best for his future.
