It is the first time this campaign that the Lady Reds will face an opponent for the second time after an unlucky 2-1 defeat to the Roar at Burton Park back in Round 4.
Coach David Edmondson acknowledged while the circumstances aren-t exactly the same, the Lady Reds can draw plenty of confidence from the performance in that narrow defeat.
“They have a few players returning so it isn-t such a direct comparison,” he said.
“But, this is the first time we-ll be playing a team for the second time and against Brisbane they know they were competitive.”
“The girls know they can compete against the Roar and the performance last time will no doubt give them a boost of confidence.”
“We have certainly improved since then and so have Brisbane, but there-s no fear from the girls. We-ll just go out there and do our thing and do it the best we can.”
The Lady Reds will be looking to explode out of the blocks after a week off which Edmondson admitted has refreshed his squad.
United were defeated 4-1 by Sydney FC in their last hit out – a score line which didn-t truly reflect the performance of the Lady Reds – and no doubt they will be looking to bounce back from that match in the best possible fashion.
“I think the break has been a bit of a positive for us,” said Edmondson.
“We played six games and had been training and working fairly intensively during that time, especially in regards to our fitness.”
“It has been a bit of a refresher week – a lighter week on the track – so hopefully they are feeling refreshed and recharged.”
